Youth World Championships are Trialing Two Platforms! 🇵🇪

The IWF Youth World Championships are currently running in Lima, Peru (May 22nd - 26th).

Why so short?

The entire competition is being crammed into just five days as a test for future competition formats. To do this the IWF is running two platforms concurrently, similar to what has become a staple at major USA meets.

This will put a strain on larger teams who may now face a situation where two athletes are competing simultaneously. It won’t be easy for the coaching staff who find themselves in this situation!

As reported by Brian Oliver, the IWF will run all men’s sessions on one platform and all women’s sessions on another.

Yes, this will shorten the time to complete a competition, but with a goal of making the sport more palatable for the viewers watching, is doubling the number of daily hours of A sessions from four to eight really the right move?
