USA Weightlifting Announces Olympic Team Line-Up for Paris ‘24

For those of you who have been following the qualifying period closely you’ll likely know who the USA is likely to select (or be left with) for their Olympic team.

Women’s Team

  • Jourdan Delacruz (-49kg) is ranked no.4 in the world with a 200kg total. Note, 2nd through 4th all have a 200kg total.
  • Olivia Reeves (-71kg) is ranked no.1 in the world with a 268kg total, 7kg ahead of snatch world record holder, Angie Dajomes (ECU).
  • Mary Theisen Lappen (+81kg) is ranked no.5 in the world with a 283kg total.

Men’s Team

  • Hampton Morris (-61kg) is ranked no.2 in the world with a 301kg total. Hampton set the senior clean and jerk record at 176kg in Thailand. Watch the documentary.
  • Wesley Kitts (-102kg) is ranked no.14 in the world with a 388kg total. Because there was no one from the Pan American region within the top 10, Kitts was awarded the continental slot.

Plenty of weightlifters from Team USA were, at points, within the top 10 in the world and looked like potential Olympic team members.

Those athletes were:

Women’s Team
Hayley Reichardt -49kg
Taylor Wilkins -59kg
Danielle Gunnin -59kg
Kate Vibert -71/81kg
Mattie Rogers -81kg
Sarah Robles +81kg

Men’s Team
Nathan Damron -89kg

The future is clearly bright for team USA. Never before have we seen such a talented and deep line-up.
